Your brand begins with your identity. Your family heritage, your upbringing and personal experience are essential components of your brand. You’ll begin the process by extracting details from your personal history, continue with transformative experiences, and conclude by identifying defining moments from your past.
After identity, you will continue the process of artist brand development by looking to the future. With the second tool, you’ll create a well-defined vision that includes the work you will create, the places where you’ll create it, your desired achievements, the impact of your work on your audience and the broader community who will experience your work even after your life is over.

The artist brand is the artist’s signature. It is the essence of who you are. Drawing from the identity, vision and standards, artists will define their personal brand symbol, slogan, purpose, philosophy, colors, shapes and style. Once you have this defined, you will create any images, product packaging, logos, websites, or social media pages based upon your unique brand.
Finally, with your identity, vision, standards and brand defined, you will communicate who you are. In this part of the toolkit, you’ll create a communication plan to determine where, when and how you will communicate who you are to the world.
